Retour en classe en mode virtuel en janvier 2022 (english)

publier : 5 janvier 2022

Dear parents,

On Monday, the Ontario government announced a series of measures to support the fight against COVID-19.  Following this announcement, students will therefore switch to virtual learning, until at least January 17, 2022.

Virtual learning

Starting today, in the secondary panel, which includes our 7-12 schools, students will benefit from virtual learning according to established standards.  For the elementary panel, we are currently distributing the necessary technological tools.  Therefore, at the principal’s discretion, it is possible that synchronous instruction will be less than expected for a short period of time.  In some settings, we need time to put in place the necessary supports for continued learning.

Some parents have already told us that their children will not participate in synchronous learning during the closure.  In such circumstances, we ask parents to inform the classroom teacher or principal.  Additional educational resources will be available to support you through the Google Classroom platform.

For parents of students who were attending in-person prior to the closure but who would now like their children to transition to virtual learning for the remainder of the school year, it is possible to transfer students to the Saint-Esprit virtual school. To do so, we ask that you contact the principal of your child's school to make the necessary arrangements.

Student Support

As with the last closure, students in the AVIS program or with special needs are entitled to continue their learning in the classroom.  Principals and team members are following up with those families.

Student Services team members are working on a plan to ensure that virtual students have access to supports.  These are mainly social work and speech therapy services.  Of course, special education teachers and educational assistants will continue to support students during the closure.

Technological Tools

For students who need to borrow equipment or who require access to the Internet, we ask that you contact the principal as soon as possible.

Child Care Centres in Schools

The child care centers in our schools remain open.  If you have any questions regarding the operation of the child care centers, we ask that you contact the child care providers directly.

Parent Portal

For parents of elementary school students, please ensure your account has been activated.   If you need help with this or have any questions, please follow up with your child's school.

We thank you for your patience and cooperation during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Joseph Picard

Director of Education
