End of the 2020-2021 school year

publier : 16 juin 2021

Dear Parents and Guardians:

The end of the 2020-2021 school year is already upon us and the circumstances couldn’t be more exceptional. In spite of the situation, however, we are proud of the work that has been accomplished by each and every one of you.

We would like to provide you some additional information about the final activities of this school year.

Collecting personal belongings and returning school property

In order to comply with existing health measures, the collection of personal belongings and return of school equipment will begin at 1:00 p.m. on June 25.  Although we will be taking every precaution to avoid the spread of COVID-19, we ask that you thoroughly clean all of the collected items. Also, please adhere to the schedule you will be receiving from your school in the coming days and follow the instructions of the staff members who greet you at the school. Each student’s personal belongings will be in a bag for you to pick up (if applicable).

Students who have any school resources or equipment in their possession are kindly asked to return them at the same time as their personal belongings are collected. To do this, we ask that you place the items in a bag and clearly indicate both the child’s name and the name of the homeroom teacher (if applicable).

It is important to note that students who have chosen virtual learning and are enrolled in a class at a school other than their home school must return the materials to their home school. These parents will need to contact their home school to return the materials.

Please note that students’ personal belongings that have not been collected by June 29th will be kept at the school and can be picked up at the beginning of the new school year. Parents who wish to collect personal belongings or return school equipment, but are unable to do so, can make special arrangements with the school by email or phone.

Csc Providence’s virtual school

Parents of elementary school children who opted for Csc Providence’s virtual school for the 2020-2021 school year will receive additional information by June 30 from the school’s new principal.

2020-2021 school year

Please note that we will be sending you more information in mid-August about the school reopening plan, including the health measures that we will institute to comply with the guidelines provided by the Ministry of Education.

Please also note that the new school year is scheduled to start on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, with students attending either in person or virtually. Parents whose children are enrolled in Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten will receive a timetable from their child’s school providing details with respect to a staggered entry.

We encourage you to keep up the efforts during the summer to get through the pandemic, especially by continuing to comply with the health measures and consulting a health professional as soon as any symptoms appear.

In closing, we would like to thank you once again for your invaluable cooperation throughout the year. As a result of your understanding and your commitment to your child’s academic success, he/she can take pride in completing the school year in these truly exceptional circumstances.

We wish you a wonderful and relaxing vacation with those who are dear to you and we look forward to seeing you again in September!

Sincerely,

Joseph Picard

Director of Education

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Following the most recent announcements made by the Government of Ontario, this letter is intended to provide you with important information about certain activities that will take place between now and the end of the 2020-2021 school year.

In accordance with Ministry of Education guidelines, virtual instruction will continue until the end of the school year for all K-12 students in Ontario, with the exception of special needs students who are currently engaged in-person learning.

Collecting personal belongings and returning school computer equipment

The principal of your child's school will contact you soon with details on collecting personal belongings from the school and on the procedure for returning the computer equipment borrowed from Csc Providence at the end of the year. You may rest assured that the protocol we implement will comply with the standards set by the public health authorities.

Students taking summer courses will be able to keep the computer equipment. Students wishing to continue their learning in virtual mode this summer can register for a summer course until June 11. For more information on summer programs, please visit the Board's website.

Report cards

Transcripts will be sent to parents/guardians electronically via SchoolMessenger's “SecureFile” software towards the end of June. They will be sent only to a child’s primary guardian. Parents will need to contact the school’s administrative team if they would like to make special arrangements for receiving report cards.

Graduation ceremonies

The Government also announced a few guidelines for graduation gatherings. School staff have been working extremely hard for several months on planning graduation ceremonies and ensuring that they adhere to health and safety measures. Graduation ceremonies will therefore take place in two stages:

  • An in-person outdoor ceremony per family, with opportunities for taking photographs according to a predetermined schedule for each student ; and
  • A virtual recognition.

Additional details will be provided by the principal of your child's school. Rest assured that these activities will comply with the public health standards.

Reopening of schools in September 2021

Faced with the uncertainties related to students returning to class in September 2021, administrative staff are making every effort to plan educational services for families based on their particular needs. We are currently planning for a conventional in-person return to the classroom for elementary school students; that is, they will physically attend school five days a week. As for secondary school students, we are currently looking at offering two courses per day.

Please note, however, that we will be receiving additional clarification from the Government of Ontario and the health units in the coming months and will be able to confirm the school reopening plan toward mid-August.

We are also pleased to announce the opening of a virtual elementary school that will deliver full-time distance learning to K-8 students starting in the 2021 school year.

A staggered entry for Junior Kindergarten and Senior Kindergarten students

A staggered entry allows a child to adjust calmly and gradually to his/her new school environment (new classroom, new teacher, new health measures, new friends). This coming school year will see a staggered entry for JK and SK students, who will arrive at their school from September 7 to 17. During this period, every child enrolled in Junior Kindergarten or Senior Kindergarten will have an opportunity to participate in a personalized virtual welcome meeting with the teaching team, according to an established schedule, with the aim of fostering a rewarding and constructive exchange between the school and parents. During the second week (September 13-17), the teaching team will welcome a small group of five to six children every day, according to the schedule established by the school. Students will report to their school only one time until September 20; all students will then attend their classes every day. The school principal or a member of the teaching team will contact you to notify you of the day of the virtual meeting and the day on which your child should go to his/her school.

Finally, we are well aware that this has been a highly unusual school year for you and your children and that it has posed difficulties for many of you and our school staff. We are grateful for all the efforts you have made and for the solidarity and understanding you have shown.

Sincerely,

Joseph Picard

Director of Education
