L’Essor Catholic High School (Windsor)
At the Providence Catholic School Board, the Catholic Secondary School L'Essor allows young people to fulfill their dreams and become responsible citizens. It is an extraordinary place for learning, where young people work alongside a passionate and committed staff and can follow a wide variety of programs.
Beginning in September 2016, the school will offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program, a highly coveted program of students and widely recognized by the most prestigious universities in the world. Openness to the world in different ways allows students to discover other dimensions and to take a fresh look at the major issues that are emerging in society.
Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM)
The school offers three SHSM programs that allow students to develop specialized skills in the following areas: Arts and Culture; Health and Wellness; and Manufacturing. In September 2016, the school plans to offer a fourth SHSM program (Sports), to increase the number of programs.
Programs and Specialized Courses
The school offers a wide range of specialized courses and programs taught by highly qualified professionals including jazz, pottery, painting, drama, wrestling, soccer, various languages, manufacturing, construction, design, transportation, hairdressing and aesthetics, health care and communications. All students will find something of interest.
The school also offers the Hockey Academy program, a program licensed by Hockey Canada for all types of players and skill levels.
Students at the L’Essor Catholic Secondary School have achieved exemplary results in provincial tests over the last four years with an average of 85% in the provincial mathematics test and 87% on the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT).
The sports teams stand out in many disciplines, including basketball, wrestling, soccer, hockey and football. The reputation of the sports teams is well established.
